People are thinking about Spring

One interesting thing about having a blog that includes lots of photos is the insight that it can provide into what the general population might be thinking about or planning to do. In the Fall and early Winter, the number of views on winter vacation locations tend to increase and our blogs from past trips to the Florida, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba begin to be viewed more often. During the summer months, by contrast, those blog entries are rarely viewed.

At this time of the year, it is registration time for a number of local events such as the the Jock River Canoe and Kayak Race in April (tentative April 21, 2012) and the Ottawa Bicycle Club’s Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour (RLCT) in June (June 9-10, 2012). As people begin searching for on-line registration forms many stop by our blog posts from past Jock River races (Jock River Race – 2011 and the Jock River Race – 2009) and past RLCT weekend (RLCT 2011 and RLCT 2009). Perhaps, it is to see what they themselves looked like a year or so earlier, or they want to see what people were wearing, or they arrive at our site just out of idle interest. Whatever the reason, our past blog posts serve as a mini-barometer of thoughts of events yet to come.

It might be still winter in Ottawa but, from the number of viewers arriving at our site over the past few weeks, it is obvious that, although current events such as Winter festivals still are right up there in peoples’ minds, the slow increase in people looking at blog entries about tulips, birds or other summer activities, gives some indication that for some. at least. it is time to dream about Spring arriving again. (Ottawa Tulip Festival)

I’m optimistic that Spring will arrive again! The world has not come to an end, yet!
