Town of Roskilde, Denmark

Town of Roskilde, Denmark (Location)

We had caught a train from Copenhagen in the morning and were now in the town of Roskilde, Denmark. It is a neat little town that we walked through to get to our primary destination – the Viking Ship Museum. It has a quiet European town feel and apparently at least one vintage car.

In addition to the Viking Ship Museum, Roskilde also has an impressive twin spire cathedral in the centre of town. The Roskilde Cathedral is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Denmark and is a brick structure constructed in the 12th and 13th centuries.  Architecturally significant, it has been identified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995.

We passed by for a closer look on our way out of town.

The front door is massive iron with intricate detail imagery.

View from the front (bit of a merged image).

Our next destination was the town of Helsingor, site of Kronborg Castle.
