The Encampment at the Re-enactment of French and Indian War at Ogdensburg, NY July 22th, 2012

After the water battle drew to a close, I had some time available to wander among the many tents of the encampment to say hello to some of the reenactors whom I had met in previous years. It’s a fun time for me as I try to find a few more scenes or items to photograph that  one would not normally encounter in present-day life.

It’s also fun to watch the future re-enactors going through their stages of battle readiness.  The little girl at the right of the group seemed to have things under control from the kneeling position but then seemed to misunderstand the “this end up” part when standing :-).

While the children were learning the ropes, many a pot of delicious soup was being heated over open fires.  In other camps, corn in the husk looked like it had seen a bit of heat.  From past experience I know that corn done that way can be truly delicious. I didn’t get to eat any corn so didn’t volunteer to do the dishes :-).

Thanks Bruce. I’ve managed to get the Water battle done and the encampment ones uploaded. Still sorting through the land battle shots (pun intended :-)) but uploading those might be delayed a bit.
