On my side of the opening :-), the photographers kept back from the edge, but, on the other side, we could see that they were perhaps losing track of where they were and, as they moved closer, the ice at the corner sank a bit more with each step.  A few of us thought that we might get to caption a shot “Photographers last seen on sinking Ottawa River iceberg” but the organizers asked them to step back and a photographic disaster was averted.
