Water Battle Re-enactment of French and Indian War at Ogdensburg, NY July 24th, 2011

The water battle re-enactments are rather fun to watch as the numerous boats are maneuvered around in the rather limited space of the bay while cannons and blunderbusts and assorted landing pistols are fired at will. The noise is real and the smoke is plentiful but no one gets killed :-).

Photographing the activity can be a bit daunting at times especially since I am attempting to keep the event looking as realistic as possible in the blog. Sometimes that can be a bit difficult, especially if there are bikini-clad damsels on the deck of the pleasure boats watching events from the other side of the bay. Even a well aimed shot across the bow of such pleasure craft doesn’t cause much concern to the sun worshippers :-).

Despite the odd modern-day interloper, the battle continues with billowing smoke increasing with each volley fired at the ‘enemy’.
