Naples, Italy

After my quick walk around the Galleria, I headed back out onto the busy street and walked as far as the Castelnuovo intersection and decided that that would be about as far as I could go, if I was going to get back to my bus in time! Going along some of the roads, I might have been able to walk faster than some of the traffic but I didn’t see anything more that I might really want to see so headed back to the bus. The Castelnuovo houses the Museo Civico di Maschio Angioina and, although I didn’t have time to visit it, it looks pretty interesting from the outside.

Back on the bus, we headed out of town past the bags of garbage that were still lining some of the streets – the result of a garbage collector’s strike or slow down that was protesting higher taxes or something – and then past some other signs of poverty that would not be in most tourist brochures.

It wasn’t long before we were back out in the country air and whizzing along the highway. Then suddenly, as if out of nowhere, there appeared another one of those places that I had come to dread – the AutoGrill – a necessary evil of traveling on a tour bus!Oh well, at least I was able to find another fire hydrant in the 45 minutes or so that I waited until we were all back in the bus and on our way again. Boy, I was getting to hate those AutoGrill stops!
