Naples, Italy

From the steps of the church, the Royal Palace is clearly visible across the broad expanse of the plaza with its cobblestone underfoot. Two horsemen statues leave plenty of space for people to gather and mingle. From the limited number of people in the plaza during my quick visit, it is hard to image that this is a popular Naples visitor attraction. Definitely not as crowded as the streets of the nearby ruins of Pompeii!

Some portions of the Royal Place can be visited during the day, but I didn’t have time for that so spent a bit of the time that I had photographing some of the exterior features of the building. including the guardhouses at the entrance and the eight statues of the Kings of Naples that occupy the niches facing onto the Plaza.
