The Haunted Walk – GH2 Low Light Test

So here we are in the darkness, the Noct is set wide open and beyond playing a bit with the exposure the camera is handling the shutter speed and ISO.

The next shot is at high ISO (its got to be, as it was taken under a bridge). Here you can see a lot of grain, which tends to streak up and down (which is horizontally across the sensor in landscape) and I did open the RAW file and played with some sharpening and noise reduction settings to try to reduce it.

I found most shots didn’t require the ultra high ISO setting on the camera and the camera controlled Shutter/ISO tended to prefer I hold the camera longer rather than bump the ISO into almost unusable levels.

Purple fringe is from a stop light as I took a picture of the peace tower. I didn’t have the lens hood on to keep the overall package small.

The following photo was taken inside Zak’s restaurant in the market where we stopped for food (milk shakes!) after the haunted walk.

By the end of the night I had taken quite a few picture and the battery just started showing 1 bar (out of 3). I had also managed to play around with the settings and various shooting modes so that my results were cleaner.

I’m open to some suggestions (comment section below) as to what other tests I should conduct. I do plan to do a small shoot out between the Nikon D90 and the Lumix GH2.
