Beaver Lake Nature Center (near to Syracuse, NY)

The on-again, off-again rain continued to make life in the woods a bit miserable so with rain returning, I left the deer to their bit of the world and headed back to the visitor center. I’m sure that the plants that were just emerging formt he coll moist earth didn’t mind a bit more rain, but I was beginning to feel like I had had enough of those heavenly tears.

Dog Tooth Lily leaf – pendulant yellow flower hadn’t yet arrived

White Trillium in bud stage but its large white flower would be a few more days in coming.

Overnight a vicious storm with high winds swept through the Syracuse area and knocked down a few trees. Even though I had decided to stay in a motel rather than chance being out in my tent, I got very little sleep that night as the high winds howled, and rain and sleet pelted the windows all night.
