Baldwinsville, New York

With Spring run-off in full force, there is plenty of water flowing through all of the rivers in the area and generally the diversion structures are wide open. Such was the case in Baldwinsville and it was interesting to sit and watch full size trees come floating rapidly over the weirs, tumbling and turning as they made their way along their path to some distant shoreline further downstream.

It is at times like this, when the water is flowing at his most forceful stage, that I am amazed by the strength of the steel cables that hold the many river buoys in place, in particular, when the earlier-mentioned objects, like large trees or maybe an upstream fish hut or two, come crashing into the marker line.

In order to get the following photo of this interesting looking building, I had to stand right in the middle of the street and wave cars past me on both sides (they were traveling slowly :-)). After taking a number of photos, I moved in closer to read the sign. The building housed the Baldwinsville police department. OOPS ;-(.
