Moths at Large, Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Ontario

Tonight was the vernissage for the new exhibit “Moths at Large/Papillons de Nuit: Plus Grande Que Nature” at the Canadian Museum of Nature and I had the pleasure of being there to see this new exhibit of high resolution images of moths seeming to come alive off the very paper that they were printed on.

If you are in the Ottawa area, I highly recommend going to the display. Even if you don’t like moths, you will enjoy seeing the quality of the high resolution scanned images and the beautiful effect of the high resolution inkjet printing on the photographic matte paper. Black is black and colours jump off of the paper. Enough of a 3D effect that I can guarantee you that you will want to reach out and touch at least one of the images. Jim des Rivières and the Museum of Nature have a winner in this exhibit. Great for all ages. On display until January 9, 2011 but I suggest that you get there soon before finger prints obscure some of the beauty.
