Children are the same everywhere. I resisted this time. Too close to lunch :-).
At more than +30C, it was hard for me to imagine Christmas season was upon us.. Here, a fancy Coca-Cola Christmas tree is being erected to celebrate the season : Plaza de Espana, Colonial Zone, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
A few more views of the Alcazar de Colon (Palacio de Diego Colon), Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and surroundings as our group headed off for lunch and I had to catch up.
We drove around a bit before arriving at our restaurant before stopping for our mid-day meal at Al Canuco. Didn’t look too promising from the outside but pretty colourful inside and food was fine. Our buffet ‘dining area’ was off to the right of this photo.
After lunch, the group headed off to the Basilica Catedral Metropolitana Santa Maria de la Encarnacion. I chuckled a bit when I saw that the Hard Rock Cafe had a prime location across the street from this Cathedral.
Columbus Square with the statue to Columbus in the foreground and the Cathedral Metropolitana Santa MarÃa de la Encarnación (Basilica Catedral Santa Maria Dela Encarnación) in the background. With construction dating back to the 1540’s, this cathedral in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is the first cathedral constructed in the Americas.
Get your ice cold beverages here! Well, maybe not ice cold, but lots of choice :-).
