Pixley Falls – Pixley Falls State Park, NY

After a quick stop in Utica, NY to photograph a few old buildings and trains, I headed out in search of waterfalls. Pixley Falls was the first on my list.

From the parking lot, there are two ways to access the river below the falls. One route is pretty well straight downhill and the other is a gradual descent along a trail that follows the river downstream across a number of rivulets and then comes back along the shore of the river. I had time, so decided to take the longer, more gradual route. Glad I did. Very scenic and lots of opportunities to photograph other small streams of water at this time of the year.

As with the preceding few posts, the vegetation along this trail was still not sure if Spring had come yet so would still need a few more days to begin turning the hillside green and adding a few colourful flower blossoms into the Spring mix. Snow had mostly melted away but a few signs of Winter snows still existed.
