If you want lots of company in a marathon, wear rabbit ears!!!
In this particular instance, it was the group staying in close contact with the 3:10 pace rabbit with about 10km to go.
A little side note: When I ran a marathon many years ago, I maintained a pace of 6 1/2 minutes per mile until about the 18th mile and then decided that I shouldn’t have done that! My finish time on that occasion ended up being about 4:20!! I’m certain that many of the people passing me in this 3:10 pace group, with about 10 km to go, will have finished a bit slower than 3:10. Hopefully, they were all able to finish and it was certainly great to see so many were able to get so far at that pace.
At this point, in the photographing of today’s marathon, I began to head back along the race route walking at a reasonably brisk rate. Along the way, I passed a few runners who had gone out too fast and were dealing with emotional and physical exhaustion as well as cramping! I couldn’t help them in any way, but could certainly empathize with their position. Been there. Done that. Not a great feeling especially with 8 – 10 km left to go.
Hank’s Hangover entertaining runners as they left the Parkway loop and headed back toward the finish line.

No pics of the band?
Thought you might have at least one.
Great pics.

Rob:
Checked after sending you the e-mail. Hangovers made it to page 6 :-). I think that a parting shot before I was heading back to the car will be on page 8 or 9 once those pages become publicly visible. Still editing and adding. Enjoyed your music.

Thank you for taking these great pictures of the Ottawa Marathon. You did a good job capturing the effort being made by the runners.
I take my camera along when I do these races, but I am trying to limit most of my picture-taking to “before” and “after” the race, since stopping during a long run can really break your rhythm. The pictures, most with captions, of running in Ottawa and from various races are on my Flickr website.
Love your fountain relief shots.
