An Ottawa Restaurant – A’roma Meze

I had the chance to eat at the newly reopened Aroma Meze on Nepean Street. (location) After being closed due to a fire, it just opened (the day before). A’roma Meze caters to patrons who like Greek cooking and the food is served in small bite size portions where a group of people would share the various delicacies.

The New Back Room gives a very earthy tone. There are on several walls, wine racks that have yet to be stacked to give it a slight modern feel. I was there for a friend’s birthday party so please pardon the iPhone photos (great camera in daylight but, with subdued lighting, the performance is less desirable).

A lot of the food was cheese based and several of my favorite dishes included:

  • Calamari
  • Ouzo Garithes Saganaki (Black Tiger Shrimp)
  • and Dolmades

It does contain a very Greek feel. I have not personally visited Greece yet so this feeling is just based on comparison with the many Greek restaurants that I have enjoyed visiting. The decor and atmosphere had the neat touches which added to the enjoyment of the dining experience.

Our conclusion: the food and environment of the A’roma Meze was excellent and we had a great time. A little gem in Ottawa’s Downtown Core.
