Land Battle Re-enactment of French and Indian War at Ogdensburg, NY July 24th, 2011

As the battle re-enactment begins, there is no question that there will be some noise and smoke with all of that black powder igniting but without question the ones who get to make the biggest individual bang are the ones igniting the cannons.

During any battle it is strategically important to have the most fire power but equally important is the ability to nullify the opposition’s fire power and in this regard the artillery folks would be priority targets.

In the Saturday of this two day re-enactment, the French and Indian combination had the upper hand but by the time that the second day of fighting had been completed the British troops were the victors. To get to that point there were many thrusts and counter-thrusts with many casualties on both sides of the battle..

With the battle over, the five of us from the Ottawa area packed our cameras away in Graeme’s car, and headed back to Ottawa stopping along the way to get a bit of ice cream.
