Officer quarters were somewhat more luxurious than those of the enlisted men but not surprisingly, the commanding officers would get the best :-).
For traders and other “friendlies” visiting the fort, they would enter at the front gate which, in the case of this fort, comes complete with a draw bridge over a dry moat.
