Pompeii, Italy

A museum is located in the red building in the the upper right of the above picture with many fragile artifacts in storage at that location.

Although it was no surprise that some modern elements were present in the ruins, such as copper taps in the public fountain areas, it was a significant surprise to find a full-fledged AutoGrill outlet a short distance from the main forum area of these ancient ruins. Seemed a bit sacrilegious to me to find an on-site retailer in a World Heritage Site and I wonder what strings or influence was needed to get there before MacDonalds!
