The Moose

20110610-013936.jpgThis mangy looking moose was the first live moose that we saw on this breeding bird survey trip in Northern Ontario. There are plenty of moose in the area and they are constant threat to highway travelers (and vice versa) especially at night when they are more active and harder to see and more likely to be crossing highways. Moose look nice in the Spring if they are still sporting a full winter coat, even better if they have shed the winter coat completely but look rather derelict if, like this moose, they are halfway between winter and summer coats.
