What a day to schedule a tour of the one-room schoolhouses in the Ottawa area!
At least that is likely what all of the organizers and participants were thinking when they looked out their windows on Sunday morning. The temperature was fine but it had rained overnight and there was still a light rain falling at 10AM.
My wife had designed a couple of face cut-out placards that were to be positioned outside Christ Church on Carp Road, so rain or no rain, off we went to the allotted location. We got lucky. Plastic kept everything on top of my car dry enroute and then the rain was just coming to an end when we arrived.
The one room school house for the area was physically located across the road from the church but not available for the tour so the organizers were using the church as a base and the yard of the house next door was used as a place for children to play (school yard equivalent).
Christ Church (Anglican) was itself an interesting structure with a long history in the area.
The weather for the day continued to provide an intermittent Scottish mist from time to time that varied from location to location and kept the conditions rather slick for the soccer players behind my house but generally wasn’t too bad a day as the skies began to clear as the day progressed.
