St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 2011

I was making good progress until I reached this point!!! What a point it was! The trail had not seen traffic for quite some time and was completely snowed in and went straight up! (I’m exaggerating a bit, but not much :-)) Wanting to share the feeling of the moment of seeing our next challenge in its virgin state, I waited for Gene and Mary to arrive from behind me. Their expressions were equally tinted with a bit of awe and “No way!”

We made it up that stretch without any real complication and enjoyed some nice views of the valley below before reaching the peak where I got to do my photographer thing and capture the moment at the top for my two companions of the day.

After reaching the top, there was no way to go but down so that’s the way that I went. Arrived back at the lodge without incident and didn’t need anyone to send out the rescue snowmobile for me. A successful day and a great way to spend St. Patrick’s Day.
