St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 2011

As we snowshoed along the trail we passed through a section of sugar maples. With the sap beginning to run, some of the sap was being collected by the traditional tap and pail method for later collection and conversion into maple syrup.

When we arrived at the cabin, we were certainly not alone. Skiiers were arriving from many different directions, Mike was stirring a new pot of leek soup and Lew had pulled out his violin and was happily playing Irish tunes in celebration of the day. Weather was perfect!
