Taking In a Sens Game – Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins
Tonight we took in a hockey game of our local NHL team, the Ottawa Senators. Located in Kanata on the west side of Ottawa is the coliseum-like stadium (which is not to be confused with the Coliseum Movie Theatre also in town) now branded as the “Scotia Bank Place”
Outside hung several large portraits of key star players on the team. As the team is going through an upheaval and trade announcements are made almost daily, one has to wonder (and some people commented out-loud as we entered the area) who will be left standing at the end of the day?
Chris Kelly who played for the Ottawa Senators was traded not three days ago is now playing against the team this evening. This was his first game as a Bruin.
The match-up was between the Boston Bruins & Ottawa Senators, and we were sitting way up in the 300s section. So here are some game action shots which I took using a Canon A2100 IS which I borrowed from my brother (technically DSLR are not allowed in).
For this shot, I borrowed my Dad’s birding binoculars which he was using watch the game. I needed the extra reach as we were sitting in the nose-bleed section. There was some pretty good off-ice entertainment as well, Sparty (the team mascot, a spartacat) was running around handing out prizes and shooting t-shirts (or subway sandwiches) into the crowds with a small arm-cannon compressed Air/CO2 launcher.
During the intermission, a lucky lady won $1000 by finding the money bag blindfolded (with the help of the crowd, of course). I shot this video though the binoculars as well.
Unfortunately the Senators lost the game 4-2.
