Skating on the Rideau Canal 2011

The Rideau Canal is considered to be the World’s largest skating rink and is a central feature of activities during Canada’s National Capital Region’s winter festival “Winterlude”.  The weather was nice on the weekend so I joined my wife and some of her friends, donned skates and demonstrated my skill at staying vertical while trying to photograph and skate at the same time. No one volunteered to push me around in a fancy conveyance so I was on my own in the “keeping vertical” department.

As we passed by the Landsdowne Park area, I was wondering, as I’m sure many others were, what the new Lansdwone Park might look like once the City, the developers, and everyone else has finished debating what it should look like.

Never did figure out what this sign meant so photographed it anyway.
