Anhinga Trail, Florida – An Alligator or Two

Once we tore ourselves away from the sight of Black Vultures attacking the cars in the parking lot, we began our walk along the Anhinga Trail and its boardwalks. An interesting experience with Vultures all along the trail, alligators only a few feet away sunning themselves on the banks and Anhinga everywhere.

The American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) is native only to the southeastern United States and the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades National Park certainly has enough of them at this time of the year!
