African Safari – Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater

Our destination for this day’s rather long drive was the Serengeti. Along the way though, we would be stopping to peer over the edge into the rather large Ngorongoro Crater and then taking a bit of a side trip to Olduvai Gorge. Our driver was of the Iraq (Iraqw) tribe and we would be traveling though his tribe’s area of the country on the way to Ngorongoro Crater. He was able to add some insight into the nature of the land and economies as we passed through this area. I caught an few winks along the way and gave my camera a bit of a rest.

African Pied Wagtail (Motacilla aguimp)

Augur Buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus)

Cinnamon-chested Bee-Eater (Merops oreobates)
