We found ourselves in Arusha, Tanzania for Hallowe’en. They apparently don’t celebrate Hallowe’en in Arusha so no ‘trick or treat’ excitement this year. Snow is forecast for Ottawa for Hallowe’en.
Earlier in the day, we crossed into Tanzania and proceeded to Arusha quite quickly after sorting out some issues relating to American currency. We are now dealing with Tanzania Shillings which are 1,400 to 1 USD and Ron has a soccer ball which is being kicked around a bit in the hotel lobby :-).
The picture above is of the tower in the middle of the town which was captured while we drove by. It is considered to be located in the center of Africa and doesn’t really lean :-). This shot taken a bit later when we were out for a walk.
Our accommodation in Arusha is at:

Here is a picture of our room with the mosquito netting around the beds. Although, in all honesty, we have seen very few mosquitoes on our travels so far, we have still used the mosquito netting just in case.
The hotel had the pool, four restaurants, an internet cafe and a business center. Our window looked out over the hotel’s pool.
Didn’t try out the pool. Food in the hotel’s restaurants was acceptable but not spectacular. Indian restaurant had run out of many items on the night that we were there so ordering a meal became an adventure. Internet service at the hotel’s internet cafe was quick and easy to access but software not the newest versions in some instances. The front desk staff were pleasant and didn’t complain when we asked them to take care of our camera equipment for us when we went out for a bit.
