I was somewhat disappointed that this light bulb stayed by the boardwalk throughout my visit. My soap box speech for the day. I wish that bright lights would quit throwing their garbage into the places where I travel. I’m assuming that some resort worker replaced a light bulb and decided not to carry it out of the mangroves with them so it just floats around there to impress the tourists who walk along the mangrove trail. Didn’t impress me!
Between the beach and the lagoon strip the resort has their platinum cottage/suite section with private bar section and other premium amenities. Palm trees and groomed hibiscus hedges are abundant.
Then there is the beach section and large adjacent pool area seen most often in the resorts promotion photos.
The resort caters to both tourist and time-share patrons.
I was free to wander the whole area and got to see some of the the time-share promoters quite often – always asking me to attend a presentation :-). I know that time-share promoters can be a bit pushy but generally, in circumstances such as this, I try to so hello (and “No, thank you”) to as many as possible the first day so that they know my answer and don’t bother me after that. Luis, a staff member at the resort, kept asking me if I had seen the ugly little duck with the pointed bill that could dive underwater and chase fish until it caught them. Pretty much describes this little member of the grebe family, although I’m not so sure about the ugly bit.
Make no mistake, this resort is a large complex (800+) and could be likened to a small village. The buffet meals were acceptable. The reserve-a-spot restaurant meals were not spectacular in any way (stick with the buffet would be my advice). I did, however, find wildlife to photograph so that aspect was fine :-).
