Another trip to Toronto, Ontario

We had decided on spending a couple of days in Toronto between Christmas and New Year’s.  Weather is always a consideration at this time of the year so, right on schedule, we had a night of snow, a bit of freezing rain and some rain and all types of winter weather all rolled into one night of interesting occurrences. Our backyard was now looking like a winter postcard and out in front of the house a creature arose sometime after midnight.

Although the roads were snow-covered, the snow and rain had stopped and I wasn’t too concerned about driving the 400+km to Toronto.

As it turned out, the drive to Toronto was rather uneventful except that, for one portion of the trip, we had to travel about 40km behind a couple of snow plows that were cruising along at less than 40 km/hour.  Once we got to Toronto, we checked in at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel right across from City Hall and its famous skating rink. We didn’t do any skating this trip but the rink was definitely being used well by others.

After an enjoyable meal and entertainment at the Medieval Times Castle, we returned to our rooms.  Although it had be a long day with some tough driving, I still needed to set up the tripod one more time to photograph some Toronto lights before catching a few hours of sleep.

This was my second trip to Toronto in December, 2011.  What a difference in weather a few weeks can make! On the previous trip, I had focused my attention on Christmas lights.  This trip was more about daytime sightseeing and shopping, shopping shopping (not me, though)!
