Heading over to Staten Island

Heading over to Staten Island

After visiting the United Nations, we picked up our luggage at the storage area and then headed over to Times Square to catch a ride on the red line subway to the Staten Island ferry terminal. The subway fare includes the ride on the ferry so, once on the subway, there is no extra cost to ride the ferry.

The ferry ride takes passengers past Ellis Island and past the Statue of Liberty. There is plenty of traffic in the harbor with both large ships and small boats using the same waterway.

Our B&B provided us with wonderful views of the boat traffic in the Hudson River both during the day and after dark. A strong breeze was blowing and a cool night was in the works but supper would need to come first! After checking in at the B&B, we were off walking again and checking out Staten Island restaurants in the area.We were tired from a long day but a trip to a local Italian restaurant did the trick and satisfied our hunger. Well fed, we watched the ships in the harbor and watched the flickering lights of the New York skyline.
