African Safari – A restful afternoon at the lodge

After our early morning outing on the Masai Mara, we returned to the lodge for breakfast and a bit of R&R.

That gave me some time to stretch my legs and switch from telephoto to macro and wander around photographing a few flowers.

Since management of the lodge doesn’t like to have their guests just “wandering around” out in the woods, it wasn’t long before one of their security chaps joined me for my walk along the trails just so that I wouldn’t get lost or eaten.

Solomon Naringai provided me with security as I walked the nearby trail. He was Masai so we discussed not only the flora and fauna of the area but also he was able to give me first hand information about the ways and traditions of the Masai. A nice individual.

Although the blue flowers of the Jacaranda looked great on the trees, someone had to sweep them up off of the walkways every day.

Bird i.d. not known.
