That battle was one in which General Wolfe surprised the French forces by moving British troops up a steep cliff from the banks of the St. Lawrence River upstream from Quebec City and, once there, engaged the French forces of General Montcalm in a battle won by the English. The battle on the Plains of Abraham proved to be an important battle in Canadian history. Historians consider this battle to have been a pivotal event in the much broader context of the Seven Years’ War and had an important impact on the fate of New France.

The battle of the Plains of Abraham saw many soldiers die on both sides of the battle. General Wolfe died on the battle field and General Montcalm died a day later from wounds suffered in battle.

At the end of this re-enactment, the participants took a few moments to remember those who fell in battle many years earlier and then gathered at their tent sites for a final assembly and final orders before heading back to their normal 9-5 lives.
