Palladium White Sands Resort, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
A portion of the beach at Palladium Resorts, Yucatan Peninsula: After a day or two of trudging through jungles and looking at Mayan ruins at Coba and Chichen-Itza, a bit of sun, surf and sand sure looks tempting. And, of course, playing or watching beach volleyball can take one’s mind off of Mayan ruins. Â
We arrived in Mexico after dark and then had the long ride south along the coast until reaching the Paladium White Sands. It was a brand new resort complex that we had been transferred to because of ongoing repairs from hurricane damage at our initial booking. The main highway was being constructed, reconstructed or simply receiving maintenance touch-ups. Add those delays, the darkness and the stops to drop off others along the way, and it was indeed late by the time that we checked into our room. The reception area had a very high, peaked thatched roof and in my tired state, each time that I looked up, the peak seemed to be getting even further away.

After some sleep, the reception area looked completely different to me.
For adults and children, getting around the resort or traveling over to the adjacent sister resorts, one had a couple of choices, walking or taking the little train. My son and friends took the train everywhere. I mostly walked.
No doubt that the beaches were beautiful, with fine light coloured sand plentiful everywhere along the beach. A diversion from pictures of snow. Snow white sand instead.
The resort complex had a umber of freshwater lagoons surrounding the buildings and a large swimming pool complex between those buildings and the beach.
BTW If you look at my snow scenes long enough and read about below zero temperatures and then look at this shot you might involuntarily shiver a bit – don’t worry the temperature in the Yucatan was about PLUS 30C when I took this shot .
