Hog’s Back Falls on the Rideau River

Hog’s Back Falls on the Rideau River

January 17, 2006 – Today’s outing was to the Hog’s Back Falls in Ottawa to see the ice formations. The falls is located on the Rideau River near Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario and is so-named because of a rock formation in the centre of the falls.

My theme for the day was ice formations and my surprise for the day was finding a flock of mallards on the Rideau River. Had lots of fun watching as the birds tried to walk up the slippery, ice-covered slopes of the banks of the Rideau River across from the RA Centre.
